I was trying to setup email campaigns in SAP CRM 7.0 EhP1 and I wanted to use link tracking so that users can see in real time which recipients clicked on the email they received.
As I understand there are two options -
1. Link tracking using target site - the target site stores the GUIDs on the URL and passes them back to SAP CRM.
2. Link tracking using intermediate site - CRM_TRACKING ICF application on SAP CRM manages the tracking.
Now the first option isn't generic enough. I mean every target site can't store the GUIDs appended to the URL and pass them back to CRM.
The second option works fine internally but then this option requires the crm_tracking SICF service to be exposed to the Internet which isn't a pragmatic option either. I did some research but I could find any option so I can replace the intermediate site to point to an application on the Internet rather that the CRM_TRACKING application on CRM.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone successfully implemented link tracking recently?
